DOJ asks judge to block Texas from enacting abortion law

The Department of Justice (DOJ) filed an emergency motion Tuesday night to issue an order that would stop Texas from implementing its new controversial abortion law, which prohibits abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

DOJ argued in its motion that Texas adopted the measure “to prevent women from exercising their constitutional rights.” It is specifically asking for a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction to stop the implementation of the law....

Well, SCOTUS denied it in another case and in yet another a Texas court did the same. DOJ completely disregards these prior cases.

Federal judge to wait at least two weeks before ruling on DOJ's emergency request to block Texas abortion law

A federal judge Wednesday set a hearing date for October 1 to consider a request from the Justice Department to freeze a Texas law that bars most abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

The judge's order means that the law will remain in place for now.

Although the Justice Department had asked the judge to immediately freeze the law, the government could still prevail after a full-blown hearing....

...In his brief order, Pitman noted that Texas "wished to be heard" before the court resolves the issue so he set out an expedited briefing schedule. He asked that Texas respond by September 29 and that DOJ can then respond before October 1....

A judge can be polite and ask. The country however is just going to tell Texas that they're not going to do that.
