In this case, the administration was desperate to find a way to get people focused off of the horribly planned and executed withdrawal that they demonstrated more incompetence by mistakenly killing non combatants.


The administration needed to find a way to claim a victory in the face of this humiliating defeat. So they haphazardly found what they thought they could portray as a threat and needlessly killed them. Seven children and three aid workers armed with bottles of water.
