    New NFL taunting rule

I’ve watched a few games and I’ve noticed this idiotic taunting rule. I saw a DB make a good play yesterday, and pump his fist walking back to the huddle and he was called for a 15 yard taunting penalty.

It seems to be inconsistent. They now allow players to celebrate a TD in any way they can dream up. You can have the whole team in the end-zone;” break dancing, but they can’t pump their fist or clap their hands after making a big play.

At times they want to take the emotions out of the game and at other times they want the emotions. At any rate, people don’t watch football games to see officials throw flags for something which doesn’t matter.
When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.“ - Benjamin Franklin.

Is anything called consistently in the NFL anymore? Certainly not pass defence penalties. They tried to make PI reviewable and killed that after what one year? Just to shut the fans up about a badly blown call in the Rams vs Vikings playoff game I'll bet they never intended to keep it reviewab;e. I know at least one fan who quit watching for this reason alone

I just don’t get this taunting thing. It’s not a violent act. It hurts no one. It has no impact upon a play. It’s words. The players are grown men. They can take trash talk. If you can’t handle a little trash talk, look for some other line of work.

If they are too thin skinned go handle that, they better not join the military. Even when I was in the sheriff’s department you had to learn how to give as well as you took it. I loved exchanging trash talk. If I didn’t have a good come-back, I just kept quiet until I did.

Do they want the game played by robots?

Actually, the NFL was up a fair amount year over year after week 1. Not everyone is as butt hurt as you are.

Sorry i dont like black only bigoted anthems myself, but no the NFL is not dying, it did a 26 for it's opener 2 weeks ago, yes i said a freaking 26!

But onto the taunting rule, which imo is actually something for the most part geared towards the minority athlete then anyone else imo. I don't think it should be apart of the game myself because it does lead to retaliation and a host of other issues! But the lines of course have been blurred and the calls from Refs have been from one extreme to the other and clearly make no sense, and will leave players wondering if they high five a teammate, will it cause a 15 yard penalty.

Imo the Refs are the ones who need to start applying common sense here, there calls on it have been all over the map so far on this issue.

I went to the Pats v Miami opener at Foxboro, all I noticed (aside from football) was patriotism (pun not intentional but awesome) especially during the flyover first time I saw an F-22...chants of USA etc, from both teams fans! Even though the Pats lost, it was a great game (and my girlfriend is a Miami fan so that was just one more positive).
