So still waiting for a link to your statements below:

As to religious punishment, these were some of your words: "No, forcing a woman to carry a pregnancy, give birth and likely having to raise a child who was neither planned nor wanted, thereby adding both financial burden and an impediment to education or employment, is a punishment, regardless of any blessing that child might otherwise bring."

Then you identified that as religious: "That is the attitude of a significant proportion of the members of the pro-life movement, the legacy of Jerry Falwell's 'Moral Majority' and its influence on social conservatives, whose real issue is their belief that people from "certain" demographics (who also comprise the majority of abortion seekers), lack morals, shirk their responsibilities and are not held accountable for their actions. Denying them a right to abortion is intended to be a punishment."

So don't now pretend you didn't.

As to the Democrat/Republican thing, you were the one who provided the link. I was just pointing out the omission of identifying anti-segregation with Democrats like Biden back then. There is no such connection to the religious right since then. Moreover, Catholic opposition to abortion goes way back further than any moral majority. And many of the pro-lifers on this forum are atheists. My argument is from science and the Declaration.
There is no one link, so you'll be waiting a long time. I didn't just formulate my opinion on the pro-life movement yesterday.

Being an atheist doesn't preclude being a social conservative.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

It'd be good to see your sources. They're not accurate, or you're not. The pro-life movement is bigger than Evangelicals, includes Catholics, atheists, and many more.

Social cons was a term we used back when Bush Jr was President. We used it disparagingly for liberal--his being liberal and all, often as socialist con.

Which is why I am anti-death penalty. My statement demonstrates that they would indeed rather be alive in jail with few exceptions.

You are right; if men could get pregnant, it would not be an issue. In this aspect, it's all about control.
Nice try but we give them all medicaid. We give them meals at school. w give poor parents payments to buy them food. No doubt that momma sometimes uses that money for dugs or alcohol.

However you will have to explain what child is abandon by society in the USA.

I would challenge the science on this. If a two week old fetus could survive outside of the womb then I might agree with the science.
