November 5, 1872 - Susan B. Anthony voted illegally in a federal election. On November 5, 1872, women's rights advocate Susan B. Supreme Court strikes down Massachusetts anti-draft law - On November 9, 1970, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 in Massachusetts v. Laird not to hear the case of the state's anti-draft law. Massachusetts had passed a law, which allowed its citizens to decline to fight in any undeclared war, even if the person was drafted. The law was passed in opposition to the draft and the war in Vietnam. The 1st Circuit found the war constitutional and thus struck down the law.

Why did Variety shows die out? There used to a dozen of them a week; it's how new acts and bands got their starts. Now there are The Voice and AGT, which are variants, and couple of daytime shows, hardly enough to showcase the talent out there these days.
