IN 1858...three years before the Civil War...
One thing led to another and the result was a bare fisted brawl in Congress that had 50 members all punching it out.
It stopped when one member got his wig knocked off but put it on backwards, which started them all laughing.

We now have a precedent.
Once a brawl erupts in the halls of Congress, we have about three more years before the shootin' starts.

Yes, they had a "Speaker" position that was supposed to stop this sort of thing, but it didn't.
