Yes, they have easier access to the region than China does. Although the Belt and Road Program is designed to change that.

Russia is a regional power in decline and the only thing their respective regimes have in common is rivalry with the US. Well, Russia is kind of China's sidekick at this point. Calling Russia a rival of the US is a little too flattering.

And that has more to do with the CCP's clumsiness and arrogance than it does with US machinations.

Don't fool yourself. Russia also wants to contain China's growth. They know that is necessary for their self preservation.

That is why Russia and China are positioning themselves together against the USA. However Russia has no doubts that the USA is weakened too far, then China will also turn on Russian territories. Especially in the East.

Another thing that Russia and China have in common , is an economic need to improve the efficiency of the global trading system , because of US corruption and mismanagement over the last 100 years . The US has disproportionately prospered , by keeping other countries and whole regions down......it's time for the US to start working for it's supper .

Such a scenario would be further than a century away , at the very least .......and highly unlikely to ever happen , if the new multi-polar global co-operation bears fruit , and countries begin to prosper. In any case , it's time for the US to start earning it's supper , instead of plundering it from other countries.

Incorrect . There's far more truth in it than Americans would ever admit to . Even in Australia ( your supposed alley )we were coerced into putting our oil onto the world parity system , so US interest could control it . Our government in 1975 , was subject to a US regime change operation , because they intended to buy back all Australian natural gas reserves , and make them Australian public property once again , and create a substantial Australian sovereign wealth fund with the profits , similar to Norway......our biggest resource company , BHP was coerced into a merger with Billiton US , and soon shut down the steel industry . Now , all they do is dig holes everywhere and sell stuff , pay almost no tax and create almost no employment.......fast forward to current times , and now we are expected to provide a a launching pad in Northern Australia , for the US military to attack our biggest trading partner , in exchange for a few submarines that we won't see for 30-40 years ........and we are supposed to be allies to the US ........Spare a thought for the plight of African and middle eastern countries .
