Man's debris IS a hazard to wild life.

I am guilty of leaving bird netting on the ground for about a week, which entangled a black snake. I spent a good hour cutting it out of it, and I DO NOT like snakes.

I understand they wanted to remove the tire, but by cutting off his antlers, they may have left him vulnerable to injury, since it's still rutting season in Colorado. I wonder why they weren't carrying a saw with a carbide blade?

I was wondering the same thing. A cordless oscillating tool with carbide blades would have made fairly short, precision work of that tire.

There looks like there would be room but I have to think that if he was tranquilized, laying with his weight on the tire then it may have been more difficult.

That's a valid point, plus we don't really know how much time they had. I'm sure you have to be careful when tranquilizing an animal, so as to not overdose them.

At the end of the day we need to understand altruism was at work here. They may not have had (or known to use) the best tools for the job available. Go to war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had kinda situation I think.
