The MLB is testing rule changes to make baseball more fun...

in the Atlantic league major league baseball has moved the rubber back, limited mound visits, had the umpires call in the calls to the press box, used robot umps and several other innovations. Atlantic league is the petri dish of baseball tinkering.

Get rid of the designated hitter. Lower the pitching mound and move it back six inches. No more “vicinity of the bag” on a double play attempt.

Yeah they gotta do something that's for sure. I would say that limiting visits to the mound is critical. Just when baseball gets exciting they take numerous time outs to kill the mood. Personally I think they should limit either the number of pitchers on the roster ( used to be around 9) or at least the number of changes per game with extensions for xtra innings.

Stop allowing the batter to step out of the box between every pitch.

His ritual before stepping into the batter's box included: adjusting the batting glove, hitching up the pants, knocking dirt off the cleats, adjusting the cap, back to the batting glove . . .

Yes just what baseball needs is more mendoza line batters hitting .165!

Keep the pitchers out of the batter's box please, no one needs to see 3-4 more strikeouts and ground ball outs per game.

The main issue right now are Umpires imo who make the game about them, balls and strike system, take the guessing and mood swings of umpires out of the game please!

I have no idea of the fix but for me, my interest waned with:

    Strikes

Excessive trading of players. You didn't recognize your favorite teams names the next year.

But I am a traditionalist. I want to see teams raised in their farm leagues and staying within their own system. Trades should be minimized and big money should not buy trips to the World Series.

I would actually be okay with replacing the home plate ump with technology to call balls and strikes. The ump should not effect the game and the camera does not care if you kick dirt or snarl at it.

Baseball has always been a relaxing sport to watch. Trying to get it to compete with football is a mistake. It reminds me of the golf courses around here that tried to bring in non-golfers by making bigger holes, having Frisbee golf... and those courses are now condominiums.

Soccer is a better example for Baseball to follow than the NFL.

Move to composite bats. More hits, more runs.
