The kind of Government abuses you may not be hearing about

It will come as no surprise to anyone here that the government is openly trampling citizen's rights. But some of the ways they accomplish and who they victimize just might shock you.
I occasionally receive a small magazine from the Institute for Justice called Liberty and Law which is usually full of things that you would think only happen in highly totalitarian or Authoritarian countries. Many, but not all of the stories, involve federal abuses. It is this organization's mission to defend America citizens from dramatic abuses. I haev never really researched their credibility so maybe they are not legit but the cases sound so outrageous I think they must be to some extent.
Mosly unbelieveable abuses of asset forfeiture whereby being innocent of anything other than carrying large sums of cash can get your cash stolen by the DEA for example. Profitable for the agencies that take the assets which DOJ gets to keep and doles some of it back out to the agencies who steal the money in the first place. Something government would label a conflict of interest I have long been a critic of asset forfeiture as well as it's differential enforcement . Now I'm an even bigger critic.

Then there are stories like the one below where a man got into a personal agrument with a federal agent who threatened him with a gun and reportedly tried to shoot him and he wasn't able to do much about it and was told the agent was fully immmune to law suit instead of partially immune.
@DGUtley and @Peter1469 have you , or anyone else, heard pf IJ before?

I looked and they appear to be legit. I never had any reason to doubt them but I figured if I was posting it I should check it out. I don't know if they were involved with Kelo vs New London or not.

It happens all the time. And when you try to get it back then it takes years, expensive attorney's and you may get part of it or less.

One famous case was when a shop owner was forced by a supplier to clean up his bill before he would ship. The shop owner got cash and went to get on the plane where he was stopped, they saw the money and confiscated it.
I'm not sure if he ever got it back but it was already a couple years into the fight when I heard the story.

There is another recently where a small business made periodic receipots deposits weekly of between 9-10 K, just happened to be their consistent level of revenue. They got hammered by IRS for evading the 10,000 mark because everything over ten grand gets reported. I think they closed thenm or seized the account. It's a national shame and it needs to stop. It also never seems to be used against corrupt congressmen for some reason

If you are carrying large amounts of cash you have to declare it when traveling back into the US and many other countries. If you don't declare it and customs finds it they take it. I doubt he will get it back.

...getting back to that "slavery" issue that some say doesn't exist in the US.
When any group of people can take what's yours, they own you and everything you assume is yours. That's slavery.

Some of these cases are within America crossing state lines. Presumption of guilt?
