King Fauci is still weighing Thanksgiving and Christmas. He'll let us know if and when we can roam the streets again.

    Very little Candy.
Popcorn balls, gratons(cracklins), homemade stick toys, and you really hit the jackpot if you got a jar of Savoie's or Kary's Dark roux!

Here's a pic of me and my friends when I was a kid.

I guess we were a bit better off, though there still were lots of kids dressed in sheets with holes cut out for the eyes. LOL. We got enough candy, mostly those gross candy kisses, but some Rockets, gum, chips and the odd mini candy bars. Also a lot of plain apples. People also gave out home made candy apples, caramel apples, rice crispy squares and popcorn balls. However my mother wouldn't let us eat any of the homemade treats or even the plain apples - she turned the apples into apple pie. There were already incidents of razor blades and pins being found in homemade treats and this is going back more than 50 years.

Leftists are working on destroying Halloween. They've been working on Thanksgiving and Christmas for many years now, but its proven a tough nut to crack.

Its like I said in the thread about pronouns and transgender, it is all part of a much larger picture and effort to totally destroy a society and its traditions to make it easier to build a new Marxist/Fascist state

Perhaps this is just the left wing run Seattle sowing their total intolerance for anything colored Orange. They get triggered and think they see Trump everywhere.

Unlike, what many liberals are waiting for, I don't make plans contigent upon what Fauci says.

I'm not a mindless sheep, eagerly awaiting my next command.

    HISTORY OF CHRISTMAS

    - 2nd C (AD) - the Romans were regularly feasting, drinking, and cavorting like satyrs from December 17, the first day of Saturnalia, to January 1st
    - they decorated their houses with evergreen boughs

    - 4th C (AD) - early Christians began to celebrate Christ's birth on December 25, the winter solstice on the Roman calendar
    - the Church made this tactical decision to provide an alternative celebration for their members that coincided with those it considered to be Roman pagan cults
    - Medieval Europe - Christmas was an occasion for excesses and extravagance - public lewdness, violations of social order
    - celebrants elected a "Lord of Misrule" to preside over this annual revelry . In one episode
    - in 1637, the English crowd gave the "Lord of Misrule" a wife in a public marriage service conducted by a fellow reveler posing as a minister
(the "married" couple publicly consummating their union on the spot)
    - despite the Puritans' best efforts, Christmas in the American Colonies was also an excuse for "hell raising" - raucous celebrations, rioting, drunkenness, fornication
    - men drank rum, fired muskets wildly, costumed themselves in animal pelts or cross-dressing in women's clothes ("mumming")
    - "Callithumpian" Parades in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and other cities, they involved beating on kettles, blowing on penny trumpets/tin horns, setting off firecrackers

Colonial America 350 years ago was notable for its absence of holidays (viewed as an "excuse" for excesses and immoral behavior)
    - no Christmas (by 1670, the Puritans and other Christian groups no longer considered Christmas to have "religious" significance and therefore used their influence to ban it altogether)
    - no Easter
    - no Halloween
    - no Valentines Day
    - no Mother's Day

Christmas in the American Colonies in 1670 -

    - Puritans made celebration of Christmas illegal in New England
    - imposed a 5 shilling fine for celebrating Christmas in Massachusetts I
    - not celebrated in neither Virginia nor Maryland based on religious grounds

    What Christmas in 1800 wasn't -
    - Christmas no longer illegal
    - not centered around the family or children
    - no giving of presents
    - no Christmas trees with ornaments
    - no Christmas cards
    - no Christmas carols
    - no Santa Claus or Kris Kringle or St. Nicholas

What Christmas in 1800 was -
    - rowdy drunken street carnivals, reverting back to mediaeval European and colonial days
    - a raucous combination of Halloween, New Year's Eve, and Mardi Gras
    - poor demanded entrance into the homes of the rich and aggressively beg for food, drink, and money
    - sometimes things escalated, resulting in break-ins, vandalism, sexual assault, and plenty of drinking
    - in 1828, a particularly violent Christmas riot in New York led the city to institute its first professional police force
    - Christmas celebrations owed more to the midwinter worship of Saturn and Bacchus than to Christ

    .................................................. ......................................

    1) The bottom line is that history, including holidays and customs, aren't etched in stone - they evolve and change over time whether we like it or not!

    2) Students whose parents object to Halloween based on religious grounds are exempted - if a vocal minority of parents can demand that having their child wear a mask is "an infringement on their individual rights and freedoms," why can't another group of parents make the same argument based on religious grounds?

    3) Given that the example(s) being cited are isolated cases - its no secret that the real purpose of these kinds thread is to provide yet another excuse to promote their "right-wing" agenda and air their "grievances by "bashing" their political opponents!
