If your 'banning' involves multiple warnings, that's pretty much what happens already.

MO, the mods here do a pretty good job. People are given multiple opportunities to behave as adults. Yes, there are a couple of wee nyeffs but they manage to just push the line without crossing it.

Yes, they should. It's difficult to do, however, as it should be. You want to give people a chance.

Right, everything about the forum is subject to abuse. Remember Reputationgate? And there's been discussion of Thanksgate and Ratingsgate. And that needs to be considered. For years I've recommended the addition of "No Thanks" or thumbs-down on posts but there's fear it would be abused.

I just think it would be worth trying.

Bottom line, if a mod sees enough potential in the idea, he or she or zey will bring it up for discussion in the mod room with admin. So for now all reactions are important.

No, my "banning" would be a judgment call from the mods. I don't call for a numerical number other than something so bad it can't be allowed.

I prefer to use self control and just ignore what irritates me. Avatars make it easy to identify posters and skip over their content. There are several avatars which lead me to just close a thread and move onto another one.

I lapse on occasion but generally I'll selectively read and skip over that which I have no interest in, is trolling or just plain insanely "look at me look at me" and repetitively boring.
