If you're gonna send in operators, then you might as well just pay the ransom, since it would cost taxpayers a lot less money.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

Just saying there are places no one should go with any expectation of government help when the $#@! hits the fan. I guess some diplomatic pressure would be OK, no sanctions that kind of thing. Nothing getting us too involved over someone's poor choice. I feel the same way about people who climb McKinley in the winter and get lost. Shouldn't of gone there.
I doubt Hatti was so identified so I believe we have some responsibility. Maybe no more aide or workers until they are released unharmed? Get other Hatians to turn on them. ? Maybe even a Seal Team? But after that they go on the no go list.

My question is what do we do now?

Do we (America) pay the ransom? If we do, doesn't that just encourage more gang kidnappings? If we don't, the result is unthinkable.

There are Mennonites and Amish near us. Usually good solid people. Several ... levels of devotion from "kinda like everybody else" to "almost Amish". My wife grew up in their midst and knows which church is of which group. Me I can't tell until I see the head covering and I think there might be some actual "Hook and Eye" Mennonites left who didn't use more modern inventions like zippers and were nicknamed "Hookies" for it.
