You should use the fuel every six months and replace the fuel in the cans. Not so much for moisture but octain.

You'll smell bad gasoline .
It will have a varnish smell.

Ditch it. Don't try to add fresh gasoline.
You'll be breaking down carbeurators.

I use it to kill fireants.
