I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble like that. Commitment to your family is the strongest thing you can do right now. If the bond is being threatened, which is what it sounds like, the strength of admittance, compassion and backing away from trying to “fix it”, is the best position.

That’s okay. I know sadness and that feeling of helplessness myself. When my wife lost her farther, the hardest part of it for me was that I couldn’t do or say anything to make her feel better or make the trauma go away: I had to continue to open the car door for her, be caring and sit back and watch her have the biggest part of her life disappear from her.

These things are the hardest things we can do, but we become better men because if it.
