58 years ago today, we all woke up with a new president. Everyone who was older than maybe 4 years old or so remembers exactly where they were when getting the news.
I was in first grade when an announcement from our principal came over the classroom speaker. I really wasn't old enough to process this news right away, but I vividly recall seeing my teacher turn ghost white. She went for a box of Kleenex and was unable to continue for several minutes.
Then, she did her level best to explain what had happened in an age appropriate manner. It was the kind of thing you never forget.
Can't help but wonder how our country might be different had he served as president for another 5 years, and how it might have changed even further if Bobby hadn't been killed.
Where were you and how do you think our country might be different today if both men had lived?
