Would you attack someone who is visibly armed?

In watching the videos in the Rittenhouse and Arburry cases, one of the things that struck me is that people are willing to attack someone who is visibly armed with a gun. It strikes me as a practically suicidal thing to do. Yet, there are a lot of people that seem to think that this type of behavior is not out of the ordinary.

So I'm sincerely asking if you would attack someone who is visibly armed? If the answer is "Yes," could you provide an explanation of why? Would it be something like you're trying to stop an active shooter, you think the person won't shoot you, you think they will get in trouble if they shoot you, you don't think it will hurt or kill you?

I said I would not but if I were armed as well and I had a clear shot I might. If I were not armed (or even if I were but my weapon was not readily available) I would say only if I had been planning a suicide already.

I think the best answer to that is "Maybe". I say that because there are way too many variables to consider to give a simple "yes" or "no" answer.

Well, if I did, it would be because I felt I had no other option.

I think that was the case with Arbery. He had tried to get away from these three rednecks who were chasing him, and he just couldn't. He was tired. He was scared. Then all of a sudden one of the redneck gets out of his vehicle with a shotgun. Holy, $#@!, he's gonna' shoot me! At that point, attacking the person with the gun would make perfect sense...

In the movies and on t.v. people do it all the time and get away with it. Actors and stuntmen make it look so easy. That may be a factor in folks trying to duplicate the feat in real life. A lot of people, particularly as we get older, tend to give ourselves more credit for feats of strength, dexterity and coordination than our actual bodies can live up to.

I did in my youth. Sometimes when you feel threatened you will attack and I had no weapon, nor was I doing anything wrong.

I have told the story before. Coming home from College, stopped at a gas station that was closed but they always left the bathroom outside open. A car pulled up and showed a gun, I started kicking the door of the car and they drove off. At that time I didn't know my cousin had escaped fed prison. Was it stupid yes. But it made me angry.

I voted yes but it depends on alot of things...they question was WOULD you attack someone who was armed...I would if the circumstances are right. If a guy with a gun is 20 feet from you, it would be suicide to try and attack him...

If I believed my wife or anyone in my family was in jeopardy, I would do my best to intervene and save them

Its a myriad of possibilities and settings and circumstances

Thats all true but there are alot of people that go after a gunmen because they believe one of their family will immenently be harmed or their wife or girlfriend..I think it happens more than we think.. but seniors have a much more difficult situation but again, there are circumstances that would make anyone attempt to take on a gunmen...mothers trying to save their children etc...

Thats why its so important to be able to defend yourself and those you care about...
