    That's not really society's problem.
There could be any number of factors but the overall outcome is all that matters to these people.

Make it easier, by law, to discharge student debt by declaring bankruptcy. (As it currently stands, one must practically show that one would be made homeless and starve to death if forced to make the payments.) Perhaps then the criteria for receiving a loan in the first place would be adjusted to a more realistic standard.

I see this as a first step to eliminating student loans entirely. It will be illegal to loan money to students. Illegal and unnecessary because college will be FREE and paid for by taxing the rich. Of course, as was pointed out earlier not everyone is college material but all will be pushed into attending with more graduating with liberal arts degrees that will be totally useless in the job market. Then systemic racism will be blamed for employers not wanted to hire those with BA's in The Etymology Of Slave Names.

Oh, another blurb I saw on the news was a segment on a group that was packing food for various groups. The young skull full of mush was gushing about about 1 out of 7 Americans suffered from Food Inequality. Of course the "reporter" did not bother to ask for the proof of those numbers or even what food inequality even meant.
