    George Floyd Depicted as Jesus?

This just goes to show the old saying is wrong, you really can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Floyd is now the ultimate martyr, earning a special place in Mother Mary's arms, it seems. I support most art, but how this passed muster in a Catholic University is beyond me.

    • A painting depicting George Floyd as Jesus Christ hangs in two locations at The Catholic University of America, The Daily Signal has learned.
    • The artist repeatedly has indicated that his painting depicts both Floyd and Jesus.
    • “It is just another symptom of the liberalization and secularization of our campus,” a junior at Catholic University tells The Daily Signal.
Paintings depicting George Floyd as Jesus Christ hang in both The Catholic University of America’s campus ministry office and its law school, The Daily Signal has learned.

“There are many students, faculty, and staff who are concerned about this, but there is nothing we can do,” added the student, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal from the university administration. “And if we sound the alarm, we will be labeled racists.”

Hes a lifelong convict felon scumbag...I do NOT condone or agree with what that cop did...especially knowing he was being filmed...what he got was his own doing...however I do not believe that killed George Floyd and Floyd more than deserved to be accosted by the police and PUT on the ground for refusing orders....if it werent for the knee on the neck and his attempting to at least show he was concerned about his breathing...then they entire interaction would have been Floyds own fault

What would I have done...If a man tells me he cant breath, I would assure he was cuffed and secured and FRISKED. I would roll h him on to his back and talk to him ask him whats wrong, if he still said he couldnt breath, I may try cpr or id stand him up and keep talking to him..and have my partner call 911...and STILL arrest his ass

A cop should not use history, rap sheets or knowledge of an individual to make medical decisions during an arrest...I never did that...Cops are not Drs...and George Floyd is neither a hero or a Saint...he was a drug dealing stone cold junky with a long rap sheet of a variety of crimes including felonies.

I think this would qualify as blaspheme. It’s inconceivable that any Christian institution would even consider such a thing.

What makes this so much worse and it has nothing to do with skin color...it has to do with the person and how he lived his life. There are endless list of names that should have this honor if you want to call it that....LONG before George Floyd...im certain George Floyd wasnt even a catholic

I suspect the intention here is to insult Catholics and the University. If the artist is in fact a student I bet they don't want to be there.

And if you object of course your a racist!

There appears to be a theme - conservative websites attacking religious institutions. Do I take it that Catholic Charities is also now off the contribution list for conservatives?

Catholic Charities is set up in such a way that most of its funding comes from the government. But, there are over 150 Catholic Charities across the nation, and they all make their own choices, so I doubt any of their donations will dwindle.

However, the Catholic University in question is located in DC, so some of its alumni may choose to withhold further donations. Only time will tell.

But, how odd is it that a Catholic student (if indeed it was a Catholic student) would create "art" that undermines the very strict tenets of the Catholic faith?

The University is probably afraid of a riot should they instruct the art to be removed. It will in the end be removed. Now that it's public knowledge, the powers that be will make sure of that.

The University had to make the decision to hang it, to begin with.

They make choices and we make ours. Or do you have a problem with informed people making choices?

    Nope. Just making an observation.
