The Charm School

[OLD GUY IN FLORIDA]

I have almost finished a book by Nelson DeMille (he wrote "The Generals Daughter" among others) entitled "The Charm School" The plot concerns a facility in the Soviet Union (the book was written in the late 80's) that trains Russian operatives to be "Americans" and are then placed in high level positions in the US as American citizens able to spy on the US. The gist is these agents are trained to be able to blend in without question as to who they claim to be.

This has lead me to wonder if some of our more outspoken Anti American posters may be graduates of a real life "Charm School" since such establishments have been rumored to exist for decades.

Perhaps you should get someone to read my post to you again. I specifically identify the Charm School as a Russian facility to train people who don't know what anti American means to act like Americans and thereby try to undermine this country.

Hmmm...according to the definition of anti American i.e. opposed or hostile to the people or the government policies of the U.S., at any given time, half of the population of America may be opposed or hostile to America's governmental policies.

I dislike Ayn Rand for several reasons but this is a lame critique. Well, it's also lame because it's not yours but I digress. Seriously, do you ever have an original thought? Anyway...Ayn, like all of us, was forced to pay into those programs. They're not optional. If she was receiving food stamps or something like that you might have had a point.

For the record this thread is not about Ayn Rand. Its about Russia training agents to pass as Americans. The title of the book was The Charm School because that is what the Russians named it to avoid detection. It had nothing to do with Ayn Rand.

The purpose of my post was simply my musings regarding people, like yourself, who only post in a fault finding posture.
