Odd Problem

Okay, thanks. Maybe I'll bite the bullet sometime soon and put Windows 10 on this machine. I've just resisted doing that till now because I hate 8.1 and people have told me that I'll hate 10 even more. I had Windows 7 on my computer at work and I loved (and miss) it.

I actually read the same complaints with widows 10. The complaint seems to be only with Google and IE browsers.

I don't know if this helps but it does mention hardware acceleration and some add-ons causing problems for chrome.

Apparently Mozilla Firefox does not have any problem with this but I did see complaints about Seamonkey's browser which is based on Mozilla.

You could try a system restore if you think you did something or perhaps an update changed something?

I have Google Chrome on my PC--in addition to IE 11, and Mozilla Firefox. (I am currently using Firefox.)

One oddity as regarding Chrome, though: It gives me no silver, up-and-down, scroll bar (on the right), as should be the case.

I wonder just why that is...

Appreciate all the advice. My younger daughter will be visiting here from D.C. in a couple of weeks. She helped me awhile back after I accidentally infected my PC with that Maps and Directions POS, and cleaned up the system generally. I'll have her take a look at the problem. Thanks again!

BTW nothing to do with this thread but Ransom Wear is running wild right now. I personally know of half a dozen small companies that have been hit just since Thanksgiving.

I dislike Chrome, and MS will screw up anything to push its browser edge so they can spy on you more...same principle as chrome and google

I have 2 computers running Win7 with no issues. My laptop had to be upgraded so I purchased a HP Win 10 laptop from the PX last year. Took me 4 tries but finally got it to not require me to log into some bogus Microsoft "cloud" account which was going to store all my personal data for me rather than let me store it locally.
I know it seems small but it was important to me.

They are trying to do too damn much unnecessary stuff.

I only update a browser if I have to.
