Actually, SW, the question was, "would you pay 2,500 for a kitten," not, "should I spend 2,500".

It's true, the Ragdoll breed is pretty consistent, as far as personality goes, they're laid back, get along well with other animals and, form strong bonds with their people.

It isn't set in stone, I'm still looking and, discussing.
You can get a rescue Ragdoll for much less and already know the disposition. I run a small rescue for exotic cats and a rescue would run $300/$400 depending on age. $2,500 is too much for a Ragdoll unless you were buying to breed.

I thought it was high, but the average seems to run between 1,500 and, 2,500.

Some of them include the cost of spaying/neutering in the price.

The reason for a young cat/kitten, is because I have a dog and, it's been my experience that kittens adjust a lot easier/quicker to dogs, than an adult cat would.

I'll check to see if there are rescues near me.

Of course it depends. Picking up two Ragamuffins that lived with a dog. Older cats react worse to other cats than they do with dogs.

It is not the amount of money you may or may not spend on the animal its how well the animal speaks to you. If the cat touches your soul then $2500.00 is not too much. If it doesn't then free is too much. Besides as you know, like a Ferrari the purchase price is just the beginning of the expenses to keep the animal safe and sound and a member of the family for as long as possible.

However, having said that my wife would absolutely end my life in a heartbeat if I spent $2500.00 on an animal!!! I just spent $3000.00 on a 20 year old motorcycle and she acted as if I had just become joe biden!!
