Why do you want a cat of the same "breed"? If there was something you liked about your other cat's personality, that doesn't come from "breed" - it's a combination of luck of the draw and upbringing. For the price of a rescue fee you could potentially have the greatest cat in the world. True, it might not be much in the way of a status symbol and nothing to brag about on Facebook - but it would be a life saved, and could be your best friend for the next 10-15 years.

I agree with the rescue plan. In my case, my wife collects strays.

The only disagreement is with breeds. Personality really seems to follow the breed.

I don't do FB, so your stupid theory is just that. Status symbol? I don't parade my animals around like the people with the designer dogs in the oversized purses.

Why do you care, why I want a specific breed of cat?

Was your whole purpose for this reply, to criticize?

Bred-for-profit animals have a higher rate of problems, genetic issues.
Make sure the line is pure.
I wouldn't pay that much for any animal.

I've gotten cats from the humane society before, they were great cats.

I've gotten the free kittens from the ads in the paper.

And, I got my Ragdoll from a friend.

It's true, the Ragdoll breed is pretty consistent, as far as personality goes, they're laid back, get along well with other animals and, form strong bonds with their people.

It isn't set in stone, I'm still looking and, discussing.
