I think you misunderstood. NATO has not voted overwhelmingly or otherwise to bring in Ukraine. I do know that Ukraine has applied to join the European Union. That's not NATO.

As far as walking out on the Russian foreign minister goes, that's just an act of symbolism / protest. It makes no impact upon Russian military activity.

It is certainly possible that i have misunderstood--it would not represent a first for me--but I really do not think that this is the case, in this particular instance.

Perhaps we will learn more about the matter on the news, later.

In Desert Storm my battalion commander (a LTC) was on the ground engaged in the battles, as short lived as they were, with the rest of us.

My battalion commander was then LTC Vines. A Delta guy getting his command time in.

I am not seeing where NATO has made Ukraine a member although they did pledge military support and assistance today. Does anyone have a link?

There doesn't look to be anything new to learn. NATO has not voted to include Ukraine and doing that at this time would be akin to every NATO nation declaring war on Russia, If NATO was apt to bring in Ukraine, that should have happened long before this situation developed.

Would that lead to a nuclear exchange? I tend to doubt it, but if the reports of Putin's mental state are accurate, anything is possible.

Since 2.3% of the military is 18-19 years old and 6mos to year to make corporal you do the math. And don't forget Sergeants as boots on the ground along with First and Second Lewies.

I don't need to do the math. I was in the infantry for four years. Most of the privates who actually have "boots on the ground" are between 18 and 22. They are the ones who do most of the fighting and the dying in wars. I think you know this.
