Great points. I personally believe that the best way for renewables to help ( not take over AOC, but help) is at the micro level like home solar. But the lack of that $100.00 a month umbilical cord the governments going to push solar farms instead, complete with all that loss of electricity in transport

Ouch!
RIP Uncle Bosey
A great first officer but an even better second course.
What happened to Hybrids? They serve both needs for most of the people but they are declining by the numbers that I have seen. Again they are not for everyone because going up mountains on 3 cylinder engines is not much fun.
Hybrids and EVs are up in the used car market. Is that good or does that mean that people are dumping them.
Let's go Brandon !!!

I had solar and did not put them back up when I replaced the roof. It cost me more in electricity every month but there is no equipment to replace anymore. Maybe when they become so efficient that they do not needs subsidies then I will try again. Currently subsidies are the only reason that they sell.

I completely agree.
Some places in Kansas have seen a 70% increase in electric rates in the past decade due to having to pay for the transmission build-out for wind farms. It's all in the way the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) allocates the cost of transmission lines. So, we have a multitude of wind farms with relatively small-scale lines that may supply power to a different state, yet the local ratepayers must foot the bill for the lines. It's a mess.
But solar (more than wind) on a micro scale as you say, offers a benefit for individual homeowners because it alleviates some of those high electric rates.
But then we have utility companies like Evergy (the biggest in the state) that started charging homeowners who had supplemental solar an additional $40 per month. They justified the charge saying they still needed the funds to pay for the line maintenance even if the homeowners were generating some of their own electricity. Kansas Courts overruled that charge--thankfully.
Crazy stuff is going on.
