Top Gun: Maverick | NEW Official Trailer (2022 Movie) - Tom Cruise

I can't believe it has been 36 years.

Top Gun: Maverick | NEW Official Trailer (2022 Movie) - Tom Cruise

After 36 years and a global pandemic, it looks like ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ is finally exiting the highway to the danger zone and landing in theaters on May 27.

The latest trailer, which dropped Tuesday, finally reveals the big bad — and no, it’s not the Russians or the Chinese, or North Korea, although our Top Gun pilots will most assuredly see combat with some foreign entity.

But Maverick’s true big bad appears to be time.

Ditto. What a great movie that was.

I liked the first one. It looks like this one may disappoint people who grew up with the first one.

Some things just shouldn't be followed up on. Or if they are, those people to whom the original means a lot should just avoid the sequel.

Personally, I've never watched Top Gun, although I was in the Navy when it came out in '86...but since I've become something of a Tom Cruise fan in recent years I suppose I will eventually get around to watching it. And if I decide to see the new one I will of course make it a point to watch the original first.

As I say, I didn't see Top Gun, but you can be sure all the pilots in my P3C squadron at the time did, at least once, and were forever making references to it. These were guys flying a four-engine turbo-prop ASW and reconnaissance aircraft - not the fastest or the sexiest vehicle in the sky - but that movie really got them all revved up.

Watch it. You have to adjust your time-sync in your head, but IMO, it's a classic. Some things shouldn't be missed.

I will check this out because like the first one the footage used for the flight scenes looks top notch and shot with true real 4k hdr cameras.

Other then that I'm not expecting a stellar story behind this, will wait as always for it to come on cable, been 2 years now what's another couple.
