Is this a solution in search of a problem?

For many years, I have gotten along just fine with the US dollar.

Now, however, there seems to be some fetish for "cryptocurrency"--as regarding which, Bitcoin is the chief player.

Is there really some good reason why we should abandon the dollar, in favor of Bitcoin?

This is a serious question.

Hell no.

Your dollar may be getting killed by inflation but imagine the paychecks you put in your bitcoin wallet at the beginning of the year that can only buy half as much this month.
This weeks pay check or SS check will only buy half as much.

One week you would think you are rich and the next could not pay the rent.

Then your bitcoin wallet gets hacked. Who ya gonna call?

No reason to get crypto unless you want it, understand it, and accept the risks.

Crypto currency is a scam. It’s basically a ponzi scheme.

It reeks of funny money and get rich quick as others have noted. A few winners and a lot of losers is what will come of it.
