Exclamation Common sense body armor regulation needed…

I expect a push to enact some sort of regulation against body armor. What does everybody think here? We have to do something they will say and they will claim it’s only common sense that we stop these white supremacists from being able to armor up and go on these killing spree‘s.

how many times will we hear that in the next week or so?

I have several sets of body armor... everything from Level IIIa concealment armor to Level IV plate armor that will stop a .308 rifle round.

I see no reason why the purchase and use of body armor should be restricted in any way. You can bet if they try to push that kind of legislation, there will be exemptions for law enforcement, politicians and probably a whole slew of others the politicians feel are "special" enough to get a level of protection not offered to the average Joe on the street.

No logic in the idea. Too many good uses for Armor as it is outside of direct combat.

Not to mention armor is defensive in nature unless modified for offensive purposes. Its function is to protect life. And if the government is telling me I can't protect my own life - my body and my choice.

Honestly, I have been surprised that we haven’t heard anything on a clamp down on the ability to purchase “military grade body armor“

Probably because civilian body armor is better, especially if you want under the cloths body armor.

Dragonskin comes to mind. Much better than the interceptor we're issued.

But sgli wouldn't pay out if you died wearing because it wasn't approved armor for some reason.

One of the policies that just wins over the hearts and minds of the troops.
