A group of students at Johns Hopkins University has invented an extra for your burrito that might be as good as guacamole. For Tuesday's Engineering Design Day, students at the Whiting School of Engineering developed an edible adhesive that can strengthen the structural integrity of the notoriously messy burrito, the university said. The students said their invention was inspired by burritos that frequently busted out of their tortillas and onto their laps.

"First, we learned about the science around tape and different adhesives, and then we worked to find edible counterparts," student Tyler Guarino said. Guarino was joined by Marie Eric, Rachel Nie, and Erin Walsh on the project. Dubbed Tastee Tape, the "food-grade fibrous scaffold" took months to design. The students said they are considering patenting the invention so the formula will remain a secret formula.

Only a bunch of gringos who don't know how to fold a burrito could invent "burrito tape", lol. My wife could probably benefit from it.

There was a local hispanic run restaurant that had some fantastic creations. They made huge burritos that were actually full and didnt flop.
But the dang things would never stay closed, The restaurant is gone several years, the county bought the building to expand a road

You would think parents spending 50+ grand a year to send a kid to school could expect more than edible burrito tape

    From the OP link:

Really? I've never had a burrito bust open onto my lap. I have had burritos open if I was deep-frying them and the toothpick came out.

I'd be more concerned what they're putting in their burritos that makes them so huge the contents busts out.

Maybe someone ought to show them how to put a burrito on a plate and eat it with a fork.

Haha.....I eat burritos with a fork. I also know how to properly fold a burrito, so it doesn't leak.
