    A New Uprising in Iran

A new mass uprising has began in Iran. The government cut the food subsidies which immediately resulted in a 300% increase in food prices. The people were already poor and hungry before this. Now, they have a much harder time and some of the poor can't even get enough food for their families.

Sporadic and spontaneous uprisings have began throughout the country, although they seem to be more dense in the southwest region, in Khuzestan and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces.

The government cuts the internet in any region where there is an on going uprising. Several people (at least 4 until now and increasing) are dead, hundreds wounded and there have been mass arrests.

I will try to update this thread as the uprising continues.

    Good news.

That part of the world along with Africa is getting hit hard by the food disruptions resulting from the Russo-Ukraine war.

Why? I say build a fence around them and deal with the winners.

Food disruptions resulting from the Russo-Ukraine war is not the main reason. From what I read, the war has affected the prices in other countries, but only around 13%, not 300%. The main reason for current prices explosion in Iran is the subsidies cut.

I understand that. I wonder if the subsidy cut was triggered by the shortages???

No. Shortages caused by the war can't be the main reason. Iran had little trade with Russia and Ukraine, something around 2 billion dollar yearly exchanges.

The government has plenty to pay for its military, religious propaganda and interfering in other countries, but when it comes to food, it's not willing to pay and leaves people starving.

Biden and his handlers along with his boss Obama would LOVE to have america just like that...some would get food, some would not.

And all these things would change for the better under a communist regime? Communists would make food and freedom plentiful for Iranians?

    How comical.

Well, Iran has been under assault from western powers for decades, so it makes sense that they would spend a lot of money on the military. Don't know if you noticed, but western powers have invaded and occupied at least two countries that share a border with Iran, to say nothing of the harsh sanctions regime they've had to endure. And it wasn't that long ago that Iraq invaded Iran at the behest of western powers. Obviously, the Iranian government is far from perfect, yet I find it very hard to believe that you, an avowed communist, would do a better job.
