    Serrapeptase: An Interesting Anti-inflammatory

One of the biggest health issues is inflammation in the body, and a friend from the gym suggested I try serrapeptase to ease the knee pain I get from running.

Serrapeptase is an enzyme derived from silkworms. It's been used for years in Japan but (to my knowledge) has been relatively unknown here in the west.

I bought some and have taken them for a couple of weeks now. I'm not having nearly as much knee pain and I can run farther. I understand that could be a coincidence, however, but it might not be. It also seems to speed muscle recovery.

The more I research the enzyme, the more I'm intrigued. It appears to be useful for a number of issues including pain reduction, respiratory problems, and more.

Here's an article about it, but you can find many, many more online.

If you try it, the one thing you don't want to do is take it with food--it acts on proteins in the stomach and can make you nauseous. I take it first thing in the morning--it's okay to drink coffee with it--because I don't eat for a while anyway.

    Good info.

The western diet encourages inflammation with its out of wrack transfatty acid ratios. We eat too many omega 6s and too little omega 3s. The proper ration should be around 3:1. But we eat 6:1 and up to 40:1.

I knew we consumed too many Omega 6s, but I wasn't aware of the optimal ratio. That's good to know.

After a LOT of research, I bought this one.

So far, I'm a fan. I'll let everyone know as time goes on.

Grass fed beef can also help if I remember right.
