Does your dog love big sticks? I suspect that you have to play off of their natural tendency to pick up and run around with large sticks.

Then all you have to do is try to convey the idea of hitting a ball with the stick. I'm sure it will involve a lot of trial and error, getting her to stand still and hold the stick, while you try to hit the stick with a ball. Then much effusive praise when a head movement causes her to actually hit the ball. Fortunately, dogs love games, treats and praise.

I'll bet it took a good number of attempts to capture that video.

My dog goes to the wood pile and, gets the largest sticks he can find. He drags around these huge branches that haven't been cut up yet....can't even call them sticks, they're branches!

He left a huge branch in the front yard, that looks like we purposefully put there as landscaping, it looks good so, we left it.

Probably, unless the dog was a baseball player in his last life. LOL

Years ago, when I had a GSD, she was like that as well. It looked like she was carrying a whole tree in her mouth at times and often the branch would be quite long, so she had to make sure she found the middle in order to balance it in her mouth.
