In 1971 I went to the Spanish restaurant "Tio Pepe's". It was a four star restaurant in down town Baltimore. Dinner for two came to $25.00 plus a 10% time.

I took my wife to La Cuisine French restaurant in Ocala for mother's day and dinner for two came to just under $250.00 plus a 20% tip. $100.00 dinners are not rare any longer

We are talking about chicken wings. Not a chef prepared four course meal with a nice bottle of wine. Chicken wings…… market prices.

Must be someplace where chickens are rare. Haven't seen that around here yet. A bit of history however. In the 1920's a cook book published a recipe on how to make veal taste like chicken because veal was so much cheaper than chicken. In the 1980's I saw a recipe on how to make your chicken taste like veal because now the reverse was true. In 1928 Herbert Hoover was alleged to have run as a campaign slogan "A chicken in every pot" because that was a luxury meal. With the shortages of chickens today perhaps it will be again

Chicken wings are over 6 bucks a pound here.

Whole chickens were on sale for $1.29 a pound.....a whole chicken, vs just wings.

    I bought whole chickens.

When I was a little boy my dad taught me how to hunt and fish. Both him and my mom had good jobs, but hunting and fishing was an important part of feeding our family.

We raised chickens, pheasants and quail for food as well.

Now if you do those things you are considered either a bad guy or a red necked rube.

I have seen articles about the sky high prices for chicken wings. Seriously? People bother at those prices?

We're noticing more and more bare shelves at the grocery stores. I just returned from buying a few things, didn't even fill two bags and it was nearly $60.
