The afternoon started out innocently as I finished putting in the garden and then went for a little walk. On the walk I encountered a delivery truck where the driver was struggling with a large delivery in that he needed to get his cart to the paved driveway
So I thought that I would offer to help him and has I did so he turned towards me and I could see he was black.
My sin is that I did not let race become a factor. Instead I offered him help and he thanked me but stayed that company procedure prevented him from accepting my help ( unless I was the home owner). I told him I understood and wished him luck.
But that is the identical conversation that I would have had with a white man or a Latino or even an Asian delivery driver. He did not seem to focus on race in any way either!
That has to be some kind of racism on my part, correct? I mean race has to be the focus of all interactions now right?
