I have a slug problem in my garden. snails too. But I can only catch a handful of the little $#@!s because they are largely nocturnal.
Does anyone know where they go in the daytime? I mean it's not like they're fast.
Or know of any good treatments?

I used a the beer trick.
We learned to lay cans of beer on their side rotated about 45 degrees (mostly empty which was the best part) and push them into the soil so the opening is at ground level. Slugs crawl in and get drunk and drown in the beer. What a way to go.

Just this year, I've noticed slugs in my shade garden. They weren't there last year so I'm wondering if they came in on the bagged wood mulch I put around the plants.
My sister told me to use a product named Sluggo, and I might try that, but I'll probably try Tempo first. I have Tempo on hand and from my experience it kills virtually all creepy crawlers.

So I'm going on a slug killing spree every other day or so. Knocked off about 35 so far but it's a small garden so hopefully that enough top make a difference.
No slow down yet and over 50 of the creatures have died by my hand. Well usually foot but that's not the point. The garden is only about 165 square feet and I have in my mind ( without a bit of science behind it) that killing one slug per square foot should make a big difference. We shall see in a few weeks at this rate
Anyway, thanks for the suggestions.
My tally is up to over 200 of the little buggers now and the damage seems to be pretty well confined to a couple of cabbages now. I pulled ten of them off that cabbage the other day in the rain.
Weird year in general for the first time every lettuce has grown poorly! Squash is delayed tomatoes looking good but not much production yet and cabbage is kicking ass.
