I watched the movie Denial this weekend. It is based on Deborah Lipstadt's 2005 book History on Trial: My Day in Court with a Holocaust Denier. It dramatises the Irving v Penguin Books Ltd case, in which Lipstadt, a Holocaust scholar, was sued by Holocaust denier David Irving for libel. It stars Rachel Weisz, Tom Wilkinson, Timothy Spall, Andrew Scott, Jack Lowden, Caren Pistorius and Alex Jennings.
Very good movie. I recommend the movie, highly. I haven't read her book I read The Holocaust on Trial - three times - which goes into it more on a legal basis. London-based journalist and essayist Guttenplan describes British military historian David Irving's libel suit against American academic Deborah Lipstadt. In her Denying the Holocaust, she accused him of perverting historical evidence to suit his ideological ends of defending Nazi Germany.
