A good deal of the motivation might have been religious. In fact some of those cultures worshipped their leaders as gods on Earth, so if the god you worked for - or were owned by - ordered you to spend your entire life building something, you would have done it, as would thousands of others. Where the structures served as tombs, as in the case of the ancient Egyptians and the pyramids, they served a dual purpose as immense monuments to the greatness of the interred and as protection against the inevitable would-be grave robbers.

If I recall correctly, Stonehenge turns out to have been some sort of astronomical instrument, and the gigantic statues (the heads being the only part above the ground) on Easter Island were thought to have represented the inhabitants' ancestors keeping watch out to sea, for whatever reason.

Ha. Everyone knows the pyramids were energy sources and star gates.

Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Yeah, I know, it just seems so over the top compared to a totem pole or small budda. On the other hand even modern religions build expensive, ornate churches while taking collections to feed the poor.

Have you been to Hadrian's Wall? I was thinking about hiking it.

7 Ancient Sites Some People Think Were Built by Aliens

Planet Earth is home to some spectacular relics from bygone eras, constructions that seem to defy the technological capabilities of their time either because they’re too big, too heavy, or too complex.

As such, some suggest the ancient builders of the Egyptian pyramids, the Nasca lines, and others were following an extraterrestrial instruction manual. Perhaps the hands that crafted these sites weren’t really of this world.

To be sure, it’s fun to think about whether aliens have visited Earth. After all, humans are on the threshold of expanding our reach in space, and places like Mars are in our sight. But the truth is, there’s no evidence suggesting that aliens have ever been here. And invoking a supernatural explanation for some of the most monumental of human achievements means skipping over the fascinating ways in which prehistoric civilizations managed to make some of the largest and most enigmatic constructions on Earth.

I've heard the explanations but I've also heard the rebuttals like how far they would have moved the stone to Stonehenge or the presicion of the pyramids. In my book they are all open investigations
Like this. They are apparently "sure" that the stonehenge stones came from 160 miles away. I'll be sure when they can replicate the feat without modern equipment. Theroies are a a dime a dozen lets's see somebody do it

One problem is that the dirt diggers (Archeologists) are not prepared to understand how intelligent and sophisticated many early and long gone civilizations were. For example not having enough working knowledge of mathematics, engineering, and astronomy that can be seen in such monuments for example.

Did ancient peoples get any help from Aliens? Did they think they were Gods?

Possibly, but I don't think the explanation is required in most instances.
