Customers Claim This Popular Cereal Is Making Them Sick

Cold cereal is a widly popular breakfast choice in America. According to data reported by Statista in July 2021, 283 million of us pour a bowl to get the day started (compared with only about 50 million who don't). But lately, multiple well-loved breakfast cereal brands have come under scrutiny, with consumers complaining that these widely available and decades-old names are making them sick. Read on to find out the latest brand coming under fire and what unhappy customers say it's doing to their bodies.

The latest wave of cereal complaints joins a slew of others connected with Lucky Charms cereal. Back in April, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it was investigating why hundreds of people said they became sick after eating it, according to a report in The New York Post. The agency's investigation involved testing samples of the cereal as well as visiting manufacturing facilities.

The Post initially reported that consumers complained that they experienced vomiting and diarrhea after eating the cereal; soon after, hundreds of people took to the website iwaspoisoned.com, which tracks foodborne illnesses, to share their own stories of being sickened. Some among the contributors even alleged that eating Lucky Charms caused their poop to turn green.

I dice up a whole apple, toss the bits in a bowl, add one cup plus of rolled oats, add two cups of almond milk and then let it sit for a few minutes while I make a cup of coffee. Breakfast.

I haven't found almond milk here that isn't loaded with added sugar.

I will put two eggs with two servings of egg whites lightly scrambled into a bowl over 1/2 oz of parma cheese. Then put either grits or oats on top. I also eat a bowl of cantaloupe and blueberries. Coffee and 6 oz of V-8. ~450 calories.

I use Kodiak Protein Oats which has 10 grams of protein per 1/2 cup.

Yep, they do have sugar, even the unsweetened version I use.

I look for the added sugar and don't buy that stuff. Sugar naturally in a food item is fine to me. The oat milk I use for my protein shake has zero sugar. 45 calories for 1 cup.

Cool. My weight challenges stem from my love of wine.

Calories in v. out. Calculate your total daily energy expenditure and plan to hit that number every day and no more weight gain. Subtract 10-20% calories from that for slow and safe weight loss.
