Exclamation Oberlin College appeals $31M Verdict to Ohio Supreme Court

The legal battle between Oberlin College and Gibson's Bakery will continue after the bakery filed an appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court this week. A month after Oberlin College appealed to justices a ruling by the 9th District Court of Appeals against it, attorneys for the bakery and the Gibson family filed their own appeal with the state's highest court on Monday. It isn't clear if or when the Ohio Supreme Court will hear in-person or online oral arguments in the case. The Gibsons allege "that the conduct exhibited by Oberlin was egregious, vile, and intentionally directed to drive them out of business," their attorneys wrote.

Do you think the Court will take it, and if so any sense on how they would rule?

Right now, Ohio has a fairly conservative Supreme Court. If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on affirmance. If you get the chance, take a look at the NAACP's memoranda.

It is on the docket. They make it all about protest and race. Those kids were guilty, plead guilty - yet they defamed those folks anyways. It was a defamation case primarily.
