I think I would suggest one prohibiting deficit spending and requiring a balanced budget.

I think a rewording of the Second Amendment to eliminate the prefatory clause (A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State) and reinforce its operative clause (the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed) would be good.

I would also suggest term limits... One six year term for President. Two five year terms for the Senate and three three year terms for the House. I also think there should be some changes in the way the Supreme Court operates, particularly in regard to its relationship with the Legislature. I kind of know what I am thinking there, but I need to figure out how best express it.

I also think the Commerce Clause should either be eliminated or rewritten to greatly limit its scope. There have been far too many abuses of it.

As I stated earlier though, I have great concerns about such a Convention. I think it could backfire and have the opposite of the desired effect.

My biggest grudge is against the undefined Commerce Clause that serves as a catchall for the lovers of a centralized government. Then we also need to reinforce the function of the US government and holding it to only it's Constitutionally defined duties. Then we can tear apart the Federal Government to a fraction of it's size. Then add a balanced budget amendment. We have to choke off DC.

A balanced budget amendment would lead to disaster. You would be mandating massive tax increases.

Changing the wording of the constitution or an existing amendment isn’t as easy as just re-writing it and ratifying it.

Most states already do have a balanced budget. And the US Government is overstepping all boundaries set for it in the Constitution. If they limit their scope then they don't need as much money and therefore do not need tax increases. I would expect tax decreases, but states would have to increase taxes as they pick up responsibilities.
