Sure the Tiger got a great kill ratio, but they broke down too much.

Was the Famous German Tiger Tank Really That Great? (popularmechanics.com)

In the years since World War II, much mythmaking has mucked up history with various often incredible claims about the effectiveness of certain weapons. And no country’s wartime record is more muddled than Germany’s, whose arms and armies have attracted legions of devoted fans. From the battleship Bismarck to the V-2 rocket, Germany’s weapons have near a mythic hold on history like few others. But how effective were these weapons really?

    Thx.

The T-34 was another example. It didn't really become a 'great' tank until late in 1944, after improvements suggested by American engineers who had received some for testing in 1942, and by 1944 the Germans were already weakened and retreating, so it didn't really contribute that much. Our Shermans did well against them in Korea.

German weaponry were engineered to a high spec. A few years ago I handled an MP42 everything on it was engineered perfectly, the lugs had knurling, all parts fitted as they should, it was impressively made.
The allies had in comparison the Thompson machine gun which I also handled, this was made primarily from pressed factory fitting, it did the job but was no beauty.
    RIP Wes

My uncles said their rifles were also better. My grandfather said he preferred his Springfield .30-.40 to the German rifle of WW I, though. And yes, the MP42 was an excellent weapon, too.
