Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a close ally of former President Donald Trump, was assaulted Sunday inside of a Staten Island ShopRite while he campaigned for his son's gubernatorial bid.

A grocery store employee allegedly slapped Giuliani on the back and said, "'Hey, what’s up scumbag?'" witness Rita Rugova-Johnson told the New York Post.

"All of a sudden, I feel this, 'Bam! on my back," Giuliani recounted. "I don’t know if they helped me not fall down, but I just about fell down, but I didn’t."

The suspect told Giuliani, "'You’re a f–king scumbag'" and "'You’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women. You’re gonna kill women,'" the former Trump attorney recalled.
