The real smoking gun that emerged today was the testimony that Trump wanted to remove the metal detectors at his speech at the Mall, after being informed that DC police had spotted numerous guns in the larger crowd outside of the security area. Trump said that he wasn’t worried, because they were not after him. He then told the crowd to march onthe Capital.

The House Jan. 6 panel is calling a surprise hearing this week to present evidence it says it recently obtained, raising expectations of new bombshells in the sweeping investigation into the U.S. Capitol insurrection.The hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday comes after the U.S. Congress left Washington for a two-week recess. No, she was backstage at the January 6 rally and heard Trump say that he wanted the magnetometers removed because the crowd wasn't big enough, and that he wasn't concerned for his safety because they weren't after him. That's a statement against interest that can be admitted in any criminal trial against Trump if he doesn't testify.
