I like that one. If you want to wage war on the United States, someone else will raise your sons and daughters.

No. I wasn't denigrating anyone. I am sorry it seemed that way to you.

I probably shouldn't have included your comment in with the other one, and that's my bad. Whereas OGIF's post was clearly a dig meant to insult by exaggerating some recent DOD policies and their alleged or potential effects on today's soldiers, I believe you were simply writing in an admiring way about the soldiers of another generation, in the same way people often refer to Americans of the WWII era as "the greatest generation". I believe that there are now and will always be Americans willing to sacrifice their bodies and their lives while serving in uniform, and the 16 individuals who were awarded the Medal of Honor in Iraq and Afghanistan are just the tip of the iceberg.
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.” - Robert E. Howard

"Only a rank degenerate would drive 1,500 miles across Texas and not eat a chicken fried steak." - Larry McMurtry

There will always be courageous young people ready to step up and defend freedom. Right now the military is being muddied by lower expectations and gender issues. That will weaken it and over a period of time there is the potential that any military strength might be lost.

And yes. I was expressing admiration for that generation that fought in the trenches under very difficult circumstances.
