The Russian military is deliberately holding back the bulk of their fire power. If they wanted to, they could wipe Kiev off the map in an afternoon. Their slow pace in the east is also a deliberate decision to try and minimize damage to the civil infrastructure in those areas. Not because the Russian military are nice guys, but because they have political objectives that cannot be achieved if they inflict too much damage on the Donbas.

Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.
I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.

The available evidence suggests that President Vladimir Putin is content to wage a war of attrition. With time, the nations arrayed on the side of Ukraine will, he probably believes, slowly lose interest. Meanwhile, Ukraine territory is being gained by Russia in slow increments. The probability of Ukraine being supported at a level which would enable it to win against Russia and remove Russian forces from Ukraine is small.
Perhaps it's reasonable to think of President Putin as wearing a red hat bearing the motto, "Make Russia Great Again".
