Heat index, wind chill, terms designed to make you think the temperature is something it isn't. I am not implying that 98 degrees with 95% humidity (normal for Florida summers) is not oppressive but jacking it up to "heat index of 110" is meaningless. When I lived in Tennessee in the winter the temps may be like 38 degrees and it would be announced the wind chill made it feel like 28 degrees. Well, water still wasn't freezing and while it was cold it was below freezing temperatures. What was the point? Tell me the temperature, don't tell me what it "feels like". I know what it feels like, its hot or its cold, I need to stay hydrated in the summer and wear warm clothes in the winter.

And by the way, I have lived off and on in Florida for 40 years, its no more uncomfortable now than it was 40 years ago except that because of my age I am more affected by the noon day sun then I was when I was 16.

Lastly, NASA has just released a report that states climate is affected by the earths rotational path around the sun and as that path brings the earth closer to the sun (which it does and is now on a predictable basis) the earth heats up. It has nothing to do with the driving SUV's and burning fossil fuels.

We could use a little heat index here. Supposedly next week we will be in the high 70’s to low 80’s which is still a little cooler than normal for this tone of year.
