    I'm not so sure about the death penalty...but certainly they should go to prison and all of their assets be forfeited to the State.

    I would think that in order for individual officers and detectives to have been able to pull something like this off, there had to have been something rotten and complicit in the larger police organization and its leadership. Cops have supervisors; were they turning a blind eye to what was going on, or were they active participants in the railroading?

    I do not agree completely. I think there are problems but I do think that the system deals with offenders as best it can. Not perfectly, but it does what it can - like paying this guy and giving him a civil suit.

    I just watched an Inspector Morse about a man who was wrongly convicted and imprisoned decades for killing his wife. Only when he got out he decided to kill the man he knew did the deed!

    He said he did not mind going back to prison when caught because he did not think he could function on the outside again after so long anyway......
