I spoke from a substitute's position. They wanted an increase in taxes and I reminded them that I could do simple math by the time I hit first grade. (It's not that I'm smart. My mom ground math into our heads as kids)
I told them half of the kids graduating cannot read and can only do math on their phones.

I see high dollar administration, but I see failure for the children.
You claim to need more money.

Now it's federal money, strings attached that seems to be proud of how much they spend rather than how much they help. Two, three, four layers of government and it doesn't work? Also no one ever talks about the cost of my tax dollars going to the feds, doled back out to my state with costly mandates. The time and energy and unfunded mandates that take that money ( which could stay in our states) back home

Effectiveness is determined by how much money they spend. Results are irrelevant.

    Here's what they said.
"Your dollars go towards better education for kids."
They cannot read past a 4th grade level. They cannot do the simplest math without a calculator, and they learn no real social skills at school.
80% of all graduating girls will end up marrying a drunken abuser and go through multiple marriages and make more babies just like them.
10% will go on to college and become porn stars. The other 10% will skip college and to right into the porn industry.
These 20% will also become social justice warriors while working on their backs demanding better pay, shorter hours, and a politician in their pocket. (Hollywood)
It sounds like your issue is not paying taxes for the community but rather how poorly , even negatively, that money is used. I'm with ya on that. That is the nature of government which seems to focus on everything except positive, real world results.
We cannot change the entire nature of government, that has been what it is since it's inception. But we did limit it for a couple of hundred years at all levels by limiting the federal level and their tentacles. Also while we can never expect a private industry level efficiency, we can damn sure do better than the past few years at every level. So go to those meetings and raise your voice ( figuratively)

Yup, broke ass schools and hospitals are constantly renovating and putting on additions, with government money which comes with the price of control always and forever

It shouldn't be. There is a tendency I've noticed - 'why do we need a new one... that school was good enough for me' '...for my kids..' etc. (I'm not referencing St. James - I've been on levy committees.)
