I guess so. But it is hard to be a friend with someone from whom I have to hide my views.

Do you really think anonymous chat with strangers who you can't see would really help with loneliness? Your loneliness is not a product of lack of conversation, it's a lack of personal connection with people and you aren't going to find that in a chat room.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

From experience, telephone friendships and audio chat are of great help for me!

"Loneliness" is not always a bad thing. Furthermore , being alone and lonely are two different things altogether.

I embrace being alone. I can do what I want , when I want, how I want etc .

People can be very cumbersome. I spend 80-90% of my time alone. It gives me freedom to problem solve, focus on my interests and not be compromised having to entertain someone.

3-4 days a week I go out in the late afternoon to a sports bar I like and talk to the same 4-5 people but only sparingly. I don't sit next to anyone. I distance myself literally and figuratively from others when im alone.
I speak to others mostly as a courtesy.

I find a tremendous degree of freedom not being a needy person. In some ways I'm more fulfilled than I have ever been.

I am very needy person. I need to have friends. I feel lonely and depressed.

Some Rabbis believe that Mazal(fate) exists. Perhaps, before my birth, it was decided that I would be a lonely unhappy person. Maybe I have a bad horoscope.

I admit my online activities do comprise an important part of my socialization. I prefer it that way.

Now, if I were you and needed a lot of friends IRL etc I'd simply start looking outward as opposed to inward so often.

Show an interest in what other people do. Go outside your comfort zone, it'll take a while to acclimate to increased socialization so be patient with yourself.

Remember most of all that people love to talk about themselves. Give them that opportunity.

You have a lot to gain and nothing to lose

    Gaming has done that.

It would be interesting and............I'm betting that it wouldn't take long to identify the screamers and before long, when they walk in, the room would magically empty. I know I would not ever be in a chat room with someone who screamed or yelled. I know where the off button is and I'd use it.

I would chat on occasion if it were available. I don't need it and, being an introvert, I hate phone conversations. I prefer texting. But if someone needs to talk...........I know how to listen.

Definitely, any voice chat has a moderator and rules. Anyone can moderate a Jitsi Meet room.
