Would you eliminate all sin and evil if you could?

Would you eliminate all sin and evil if you could?

Do you have to do evil to survive?

Everyone who has survived and thrived in our past, has done evil as well as good to survive.

Evil, like good, seems to be something that we must do.

Perhaps that is why some non-believers, as well as believers, say that sin is a happy human fault and necessary to both God and nature’s plan to keep us alive.

We all sin, apparently. I know I have. Some to my shame, and some proudly.

I see most people doing a lot more good than evil, but overall, is that bit of evil good for humans as well?

As I look at evolution, I see cooperation as the good, as no victim or loser is created.

When I look at competitions, I see a victim/loser to it, and that would be the small evil in the greater good of our continuing evolution.

Would you eliminate all sin it you could?

    I would not.

    Regards
    DL

I am not in favor of eliminating free will. Sounds robotic.

Free will, if we really have such a thing, is really limited.

The issue was recognizing the good in what most call evil, and admitting that we will do evil again, as required, or chosen.

What would be the fun in that?

It would make things very boring.

How would we be able to recognize the good if there were nothing with which to compare it?

Since I don't hold any theistic beliefs, my concept of sin and evil may be different from the ideas of others.

Sin is a pretty easy one--it's doing something you know is wrong, but you do it anyway.

Evil is the excuse many use to keep from taking responsibility for their sins.

Evil already doesn't exist. Not in any form that is separate from humans. There was no separate force or entity that made Hitler do what he did--that was all developed in his little human mind. A murderer is not being influenced by an evil that exists outside his brain. He may have a psychosis that affects his ability to empathize with his victims, but that's a messed-up mind, not a disincarnate entity at work.

I would not rid the world of evil or sin if I could do so because, without challenge and conflict, there is no impetus for improvement.

But, let's just suppose, for the sake of argument, that Revelations came to pass, the saved ascended, and all was happy in the heavenly realms.

    What would happen next?

Boom, Lucifer (or some other bored winged entity) disagrees with God, falls, and a new biblical story begins. Everything old is new again.

    That one stumps me.

Do you mean evil is good in the sense that it stimulates society or the individual to discover ways around it?

If we get rid of all sin and evil, I would have to get a real job.
